I always miss all the fun- while shacking up in New York during the 6th worst snow storm ever, my cousin Luke and his buddies were out having the time of there lives in Lake Tahoe. I was gonna go, but decided not to at the last minute. Maybe that was a good idea.
Backcountry riding is seriously one of the awesomest outdoor experiences one can enjoy. “Very forgiving.” That is how West Coast powder is often described when young thrill seekers thrust themselves sky high off enormous kickers and land into the pillowy stuff below. But sometimes the powder can have a different affect. Here’s what happens when a few East Coast boys contend with the duality of nature out West..

This is the last Episode of Full Benefits (season 2), a CH Original Series I was hired to shoot. It’s been a great run and I hope we can make a third season happen! Thank you Eva Wong and Sam Sparks for being such awesome producers and for being totally attentive and communicative. Congratulations Matt Pollock for stepping in on this and keeping it fun and awesome. Thank you camera crew Sam Thonis, Lisa hall and operators Ivaylo Getov and James Herron. I recently was hired to produce a spot for App developer, Commercial Pop. Surprisingly, I was referred to them by a friend who I have barely even gotten to know, however I am grateful for her recommendation! It was agreed that I would take on both the “producer & cinematographer” roll.
I was amazed and fortunate enough to pull some pretty talented people in, all of whom contributed immensely to this project, bringing in their own equipment and expertise at a drastically discounted rate. I hate asking favors, but in an instance like this, I think everyone benefits. When you do a good job and the client “loves it,” you can rest assured that more work is down the line.
So, thanks you Travis Satten (dir./editor), Kurt Seary (sound), Cait Davis (gaffer & b-cam) Rick and Claire (location), Rus Yusupov & Daniel Gantz (creative director/ComPop) all the kids for helping to bring this together and Tamara Weg.

The Naturalized, a two hour feature length doc I co-DP’d with a few other people in ’08/’09 will finally be airing on the History Channel next Wednesday the 15th at 10am (uncut), then again (slightly cut down) Saturday the 18th at 8pm.
Although currently there isn’t much press surrounding it (link), I think most people will enjoy this unique perspective into the naturalization process and have a greater sense of appreciation for the country we live in. I know the 10am showing on Weds is a tough one, but if you decide to shack up next Saturday night, check it out. It’s worth watching!
